XNA just reached a major milestone: on Thursday, June 6, 2025, more than 6,000 travelers passed through our TSA checkpoint in a single day for the first time ever.

The official count — 6,443 passengers — marks a record-breaking day at XNA and reflects the rapid growth of our region’s air travel demand. The milestone occurred during Walmart Shareholders Week, a period that consistently brings thousands of visitors to Northwest Arkansas for corporate events, business meetings, and vendor engagements. With packed flights, expanded airline schedules, and full parking lots, the week provided a powerful snapshot of the airport’s essential role in regional mobility and economic development.

Why This Matters

Throughput—the number of individuals who pass through security—is one of the most reliable indicators of passenger traffic at an airport. Breaking the 6,000 mark shows that XNA is not only keeping pace with demand, but helping drive it.

This record isn’t just about one busy day. It reflects:

  • A strong and growing regional economy, supported by major employers, national events, and tourism
  • Increased airline service and nonstop route options now connecting Northwest Arkansas to more than 20 cities
  • Expanded infrastructure needs, as XNA continues to invest in terminal modernization to accommodate growth
  • Enhanced visibility for our region, which draws both leisure travelers and global business leaders

As of June 2025, XNA’s year-to-date enplanements are up 7.3%, following a 15.5% year-over-year increase in 2024. This kind of sustained growth benefits the entire region—from hotels and restaurants to real estate, corporate investment, and workforce opportunities.
