SCAM ALERT : Pets delivery after an online purchase
The Airport receives several calls per week regarding pets (usually dogs) or exotic animals that are being purchased online and supposedly delivered to XNA. There are several things in common with most of these calls.
All correspondence between seller/buyer is done via email. No specific flight information is given for delivery of the pet, other than it can be picked up at XNA. There are no phone contact numbers for the carrier/transportation company. Money must be sent prior to the pet being shipped, usually via Western Union (always a scam). The transport company is frequently listed as Global Pet Services or Global Pet Transport. These transport companies do not fly into XNA.
We have spoken to the Better Business Bureau of Arkansas, and airports around the area are all reporting an increase in these types of calls. They are working in conjunction with Western Union to help notify potential victims of these scams before they make such a purchase.
If the pet you purchased is not being sent to XNA via one of these airlines, with flight arrival and flight number information, please be cautious of making a final purchase. The airlines that fly into/out of XNA are American, Delta, United, U.S. Air and Allegiant. The Airport or individual airlines have no recourse or responsibility when these pets are purchased, money is lost and no pet ever arrives.
